The HP software for 8600 is far more stable compared to 7310's software which relies on updates to be reflected for printer to function. Feeder is extremely solid verses the crappy print/scan feeder tray on 7310 that can easily snap off. Double sided printing & scanning from the top feeder rather than constantly opening the top to reveal the scanner bed. Print wirelessly without the addition of a Solwise Homeplug wireless socket combo.
8600 PLUS HP PRINTER UTILITY UPDATE
Update printer software wirelessly, rather than through Windows on 7310. In comparison to the 7310, I have noticed: The CM750A version of the 8600 Plus allows me to do things that 7310 couldnt, or was limited in terms of capability. I bought this in substitution for the HP OfficeJet 7310, which now belongs to my parents. I couldn't forgive the fact that it was such a poor quality and the experience of troubleshooting something at this price so it went back the same day delivered.
Overall what makes it not worth it is the price point £160 is to dear to be going through this awful experience of owning this device. Settings on a Mac is far harder to configure and you get less options that configuring on a PC.
8600 PLUS HP PRINTER UTILITY HOW TO
There are a number of issues with HP not being able to load its on glossy paper which resulted in an embarrassing call to support, but it was embarrassing as I was teaching the support person how to fix the issue (On the HP forum photo printing is a big issue).
8600 PLUS HP PRINTER UTILITY SERIES
No this is not a photo printer, agreed the officejet series of printers is not to be considered in this category but the fact that in todays world this is a key test for all in ones I would say not having a decent photo print is a massive minus, and so a hangup for me. The error message was meaningless and its not an intuitive device to troubleshoot.
Any reasonable person would expect installation to be easy which it was, but after the 4mins of installing trying to do a photo print became an uphill struggle. You buy a printer that has some good reviews from reputable websites and based on reading customer reviews and you take an average view of them and make a purchase. I used to a 10 Year owner of HP's because of the good quality and performance but no more, because quality and performance don't exist with this model. For the current £160 its not worth it, probably at £80 it would be, and if you can live with the cheap build and the other problems such as the poor software management of the device. The paper was original HP printing paper, but the ink soaked into the paper in a way that it looked odd and made the page look cheap. Even loading the paper into the paper tray was challenging because the tray mechanism is not consistent when going to load the paper remember if the basics are too hard, avoid. There are a number of inherent issues such as cheap plastic build quality and the colour reproduction, the inks are expensive and the the default tray selection and photo printing that make the occasional photo print impossible. In a nutshell avoid it, if you think this is harsh, well its because I care not because I am some drama queen. HP will do one at a reduced cost so it might be worth giving them a ring. I would recommend this but bear in mind I am not the first to have had this problem and it happened just after the warranty ran out, so I would only get one if you are willing to pay for an extended warranty. The double sided copying and printing is really handy as it the top loader for copying multiple pages. The ink lasts for ages and it produced lovely clear prints. If not then it will provide spares for our new one! I will be replacing it with the same model but this time will get a 3 year guarantee at the same time - just in case! I have looked up the fault on line and other people have said that it is caused by a faulty capacitor, so now that it is out of warranty, we will open it up and have a look to see if there is anything we can do ourselves. They have basically said that it will mean buying a new printer. The went through everything they could to check that it wasn't soft ware and confirmed that it was, as I had suspected, a hardware fault. I have phoned HP who were very nice but unable to help. To begin with, this wasn't so bad but now it does it after a single sheet so it pretty much means the printer is useless. It starts by saying printer error and you have to turn it off and then on before you can do anything else.
8600 PLUS HP PRINTER UTILITY INSTALL
Was absolutely great, easy to install and did everything I needed it to - with a bit of tweaking to get it to feed card! But unfortunately it has developed a fault which means that it wont do anything.
